Staying safe — our anti-scam promise

Timeshare resale attracts scammers, and most victims are approached by phone or email by someone pretending to be a legitimate business. Here is what we promise, what we will never do, and how to protect yourself.

We never ask for an upfront fee to sell

Listing with us is free. LO's seller commission and the payment-processing fee are only ever deducted from your sale proceeds when your timeshare actually sells. If anyone claiming to be from mydreamholiday or Leisure Options asks you to pay upfront to list, to "release" a buyer, to cover "taxes", "transfer levies", or "admin" before you are paid — it is a scam. Stop, pay nothing, and report it to us.

Your money is held in trust until the transfer

Sellers never pay anything upfront. Buyers pay only after they win or buy, into Leisure Options' trust account, where it is held until transfer. That is Leisure Options' (LO's) FNB Section 54 trust account — a regulated trust account, not a business account. The buyer pays the full amount into it: the purchase price, the buyer's commission, the admin fee and the club's transfer fee. LO pays the seller, and pays the transfer fee over to the club, only after the ownership transfer is registered. Nobody from mydreamholiday or Leisure Options will ever ask a buyer to pay the seller or the club directly.

You pay only through mydreamholiday

Every amount you pay is shown on the platform before you commit. You pay it in one of two ways only: through our secure checkout on the website, or through a payment request on mydreamholiday — a secure CallPay link that appears on your dashboard and on the listing. We never send payment links or bank details any other way: not by email, SMS, WhatsApp or phone. If anyone sends you a payment link or an account number, or tells you LO's bank details have "changed", do not pay. Log in to mydreamholiday and check your dashboard, or contact us first through the platform or at support@mydreamholiday.co.za.

We verify ownership before a listing goes live

Every listing's ownership and levy position is checked before buyers can see it. And LO needs your ID before you can bid or buy — never just to browse, and never by asking you to email documents to a stranger.

How to spot a scam

  • Pressure and urgency. Scammers rush you; we never will.
  • Any fee before you are paid. A genuine sale pays the seller — it never asks the seller to pay first.
  • A payment link or bank details sent to you by email, SMS or WhatsApp. We never send either: a genuine payment request appears only on your mydreamholiday dashboard and on the listing.
  • Being asked to pay the seller or the club directly. On mydreamholiday, every payment goes into LO's trust account.
  • Email addresses that are almost right. Our emails come from @mydreamholiday.co.za — check the address, not just the name.
  • Requests for your password or a one-time PIN. We will never ask for either, on any channel, for any reason.

If something feels wrong

Email support@mydreamholiday.co.za before you pay or sign anything — we would always rather you asked, and we investigate every report. If you have already paid a scammer, contact your bank immediately and report the matter to the South African Police Service; we will assist with any information we have.
